Exciting news for all of shoppersmap blog readers and shop owners-the 8th Annual Palm Springs Modernism Show & Sale, benefiting
the Palm Springs Preservation Foundation, will be held February 15-17,
2008 at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
A
wide range of vintage 20th Century furniture, decorative and fine arts
will be presented and sold by 75 exhibitors, many from the West Coast,
but some who come from as far away as New York, Philadelphia, Boston,
Detroit, Dallas, Denver, and Miami. High quality mid-Century furniture
is a favorite of many dealers and collectors, but the show also
includes an excellent representation of all design movements of the
20th Century from 1900 to 1970s.
An opening party and early-buying opportunity will be held on Friday
evening, February 15, from 6 - 9 p.m. to benefit the Palm Springs
Preservation Foundation. Preview tickets are $50 per person in advance,
and $60 at the door, and are available by calling (760) 837-7117 or www.pspf.net The preview gala will feature book signings by celebrity modernism authors, as well as appetizers, full bar, and entertainment.
The weekend show hours are Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday,
11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Palm Springs Convention Center is located at 277
N. Avenida Caballeros, Palm Springs, CA 92262. Show admission is $15
per person for Saturday & Sunday; good for return entry all weekend.
The Modernism Show weekend has evolved into a full ten days of
events that are sure to capture the attention of modern enthusiasts.
Modernism Week will offer a variety of special events, including Palm
Springs Walk of Fame dedication to architect Donald Wexler, annual
benefit party for Palm Springs Modern Committee, Frey House II tours by
the Palm Springs Art Museum, classic car show, vintage fashion show,
double-decker bus architectural tours, and a retro martini party.
